2012 was the final season for Ian Bremner’s racing career who decided to hang up the championship leathers and concentrate on family life and his new business venture. Ian got married to Jade at the start of this year, some of you may remember the shock proposal at the 2011 presentation. There little family is due an addition mid June.
I (Kirsty) was keen to continue racing in as many championships as possible in 2013. Having undergone major stomach surgery late last year I had not been out practicing as much as hoped before the start of the new season.
In the first practice session of the first round of the season I had a highside on the exit from roundabout corner. Instantly I knew she had broken her collarbone again. Bob said he was impressed with my pain threshold as he has seen many riders crying with the pain, but I didn’t complain – much.
After a rather bumpy trip to the hospital and a long painful wait, the x-ray showed that my right collarbone broke into 3 pieces at a 45 degree angle in a similar area as my last break, they are not operating on it at the moment and waiting to see how it will heal before making that decision.
It has been a very difficult decision to make but my health and my businesses come first therefor I have decided to stop racing supermoto and to sell my motorbikes. I would like to thank those who offered support and sponsorship to me this year; my new team Team Taffy Racing, Forth Gear, Putoline, Samco Hoses, Hel Racing, Gearne Boots, BN Designs, I Candy, Acerbis and Scott.
Although I will no longer be racing I will not disappear, once supermoto is in your blood it is hard to get it out again. I will be out with my camera and helping out as much as I can with the championships. Ian will be doing a few championship rounds, if he can secure a entries sponsor he will be competing in more.
