Although it has been a quieter year for Scottish Supermoto we are hoping that the momentum will return for 2014.
We have had some great racing up the front and also riders progress and improve mid pack, we have welcomed some new faces from both Scotland and England.
We raced at our new venue The Great Scottish Bike Show where the girls were helping promote the racing and doing an excellent job while the guys were putting on a show outside in the worst conditions of the year but still some excellent racing went on and we welcomed some riders back including Jack Gow and Gary McLuskey. We attended the Grampian Motorcycle again this year where we welcomed back Davie Mitch from over the pond we also had some new riders attend. This year we have had new riders try out racing and we have had nothing but positive feedback from them. We would like to thank the club for being so welcoming to new riders and helping them to improve and progress. It is very rare where you will find experienced riders helping newbies get their race lines and setups improved for free.
This year Crasher Murray has been Mr Consistent this year finishing overall Scottish Supermoto Champion closely followed by Ben McLuskey and fellow Scotcomp rider Andrew Gow who has improved greatly.
We have had guys travel down south and race in the British Supermoto Championships and doing us proud – it is great to stir things up a little ;)
A big thank you to Brian Abel and Bob Auld for continuing to improve the Supermoto Experience, thanks to our sponsors through out the year who have helped us out a lot. Thank you to our volunteer marshals, tower girls, those behind the scenes and we cant forget the brolly dollies.
So what for 2014?
Scottish Supermoto will be running 6 rounds next year (to be confirmed)
We have improvements planned in the paddock; the ladies toilet will get a code lock to make practices more comfortable, all taps will be changed to push taps to prevent water wastage, the gents toilet floor is going to be reinforced, the ramps will be getting grip put on them. A path will be made from the paddock to the toilet block to prevent walking on grass. The cafe is being looked at by an electrician to see if we can get it functioning once more, we may be generating an income from the cafe by renting out the kitchen to local businesses. We are going to get a sign made for the main road entrance stating when and what is on next and the large calender will be getting updated.
We are hopeful to be attending The Great Bike Show 2014 and The Grampian Motorcycle Convention again. We are also hoping that the British Supermoto Championship will return to Crail for the first time since 2009.
