Weekend Summary by Jack Gow: Great start to 2010. Managed to hold a good crowd and also plenty of interest down at the stand. I spoke to two people who have bikes and are ready for the next round at Crail. 37 on sat is the biggest grid I have seen in my time in SM at a Scottish organised event so that has to be positive.

Big thanks, to Everyone who helped set the track & stand up and taking it down. Also to Malky & Jeff for dropping offpicking up all equipment . Richard for making the event possible and dealing with the organising. Ann(e?) for signing on, All the lap scoring/superpole girls (Had it real tough on sat but all efforts much appreciated). Bob for all his efforts as COC. Everyone who volunteered to marshal. Also Thanks to Jamie Glenn & family for all their work on the Stand, Hamish & Linda Clarke and Drew Leslie and sons for looking after the stand on Sun. And of course to everyone else who did their usual bits and pieces.

Gary taking on Kevin Carmichael with his measly 450 single against the Mighty 2.3l Triumph was good laugh & great entertainment.

Hope Willie, Malky and Chris McL all recover quickly from there knocks over the weekend. Good to see Willie there on Sun.

Congrats to “young guns” Dougie and Ben for setting the bench mark for the season to come. If round one is anything to go by I think we’re in for an exciting championship….

Cheers
Jack

Few things regarding the first rnd 1 of the Scottishsupermoto championship this weekend at Ingilston. Few changes to our usual format so make sure you read - click “read more” below for full details…

Entry: as Richard mentioned in the other bike show thread entry for us will be through Gate 6. From the Newbridge roundabout head east along A8 (Glasgow Road) towards Edinburgh Airport, just before the slip road to the airport there is a road down to the left. Gate 6 is first on the left heading down this road. Access will be available until 9am but recommended to be there for 8:30

Sign on/Scruiteneering: Will be starting from 8:30 onwards. If you haven’t already done so bring a filled in entry form with you and completed day licence form if required. These forms will be available at signing on so get up and collect them as soon as possible.

Riders Briefing: Riders Briefing will be at 9:45 on both days. Come to riders briefing changed and ready to go as practice will commence straight after.

Marshals: For this event we will be utilizing volunteer marshals. If you have requested extra passes you will be expected to provide someone to help. The more volunteers the less everyone will need to do. Marshals will also need to sign on.

Practice: Riders will be divided into two groups for practice which will be posted up after signing on. Each group will have a 15 min open pactice session.

Qualifying: We are away from our home comforts of Crail and have no timing system. For this round only and to add a bit of a change/excitement we have decided to run a superpole. Each rider will go out on the track on there own and do one warm up lap followed by one flying lap. This lap will decide your class and grid position for the afternoons racing (numbers for each class will be decided after signing on and will announced at riders briefing). We will have 2 or 3 people timing each lap and an average time will be taken. It will be up to the riders to know when they are out and make sure they are up in plenty of time. If you miss your slot you will be held in the dummy grid until COC decides you can be fitted in. Anyone who has a break down or puncture must notify an official asap and will be allowed a run at the end of the session at the COC’s discretion.

LCQ: After superpole grid results will be posted. The last few spaces on the A grid will be decided by a Last Chance Qualifier. Anyone who has not qualified for the A race will have the choice to enter a 4 lap LCQ. Grid positions will be picked at random. The first 2 finishers in this race will take up the last two spots on the A grid.

Racing: After qualifying & LCQ grid positions will be posted up. Racing will be in an A – B fomat with the fastest x number being in the A class and the rest in the B. Additional classes will be run integrated within this format (i.e S1/S2 vets etc..).
Races will be 10mins + 1 lap.
Races will be started by lights or by flag.
Jump starts, dangerous riding & track cutting will be heavily penalised.
Each class will have 3 races all to count towards overall on day and respective championships.
If time allows we will have a Grand final which will be open to anyone and grid positions will be picked at random.

The club retains the right to change the format due to changeable circumstances.

Stand: As you may or may not know we have a stand in the main arena. We are looking for volunteers to take a turn on the stand during handing out leaflets etc. Anyone interested please let a club committee member know in the morning.

Sunday Night. After the racing is complete on Sunday, the stand and track have to be completely dismantled. The more help we get the quicker we can get finished and everyone can get home. So the more the merrier.
